I love Thanksgiving because it reminds us to take a step back and count our blessings. Today and every day, I'm grateful to live in the best nation on earth — a land so many brave men and women have fought to protect. My father served in WWII as a bombardier on a B-17, fighting alongside millions of other Americans to preserve freedom and democracy. I'm forever grateful for his service, which inspired me to become a U.S. congressman.
It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the people of Texas in Washington and to chair two national security committees. I'm extremely grateful to my constituents for entrusting me to represent them, and I will continue to do so honorably through the end of my term.
And last — but definitely not least — I'm grateful for the incredible family I've been blessed to build with my beautiful wife, Linda. Being a husband to Linda and a father to our five kids is life's biggest blessing.
