In my role as President of The National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mick Ferron as the new Chief Executive Officer of the NYCI.

Mick Ferron succeeds Mary Cunningham, who is retiring after 23 years of dedicated service and transformative leadership.

Mick Ferron brings over two decades of experience in youth work and leadership. Most recently, he served as Regional Youth Services Manager with Sphere 17 Regional Youth Service, where he led strategic development, service delivery, and advocacy for young people in disadvantaged communities. His career spans frontline youth work, programme design, and sectoral representation, giving him a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing young people today.

I'm delighted to welcome Mick Ferron as our new CEO. Mick brings a wide range of experience at the coal face of youth work, in youth work management and in advocating for young people. He is dynamic, thoughtful, and passionately committed to ensuring all young people have access to the youth work they need, provided through the many and varied programmes of our member organisations.

This leadership transition highlights NYCI’s commitment to continuity, stability, and innovation as it serves Ireland’s young people. NYCI extends its sincere thanks to Mary for her exceptional leadership and warmly welcomes Mick as he begins this new chapter.
