You won a huge court victory for First Nations financial transparency.

Hans McCarthy is an Indigenous activist who just set a landmark legal precedence because of YOU.

Taxfighters like you stepped up and donated so the CTF could partner with Hans in his fight for more accountability in his community.

Hans is a band member of Frog Lake First Nation. Frog Lake’s trust fund, funded by the band’s oil revenues, totaled about $102 million in 2013. Only $8.7 million was left in 2024.

Hans went looking for documents showing what happened to the money in the fund, but local leaders and the federal government refused to provide answers.

So Hans and the CTF launched a lawsuit against the federal government to get the documents.

Hans won that court case and now the Federal Court has ordered Ottawa to hand over the documents.

This is a huge win for First Nations Financial transparency. Now other Indigenous activists can cite this legal victory to force Ottawa to provide transparency for their communities. This win is big for Hans and First Nations across Canada.

Hans has been in this fight for transparency for almost four years. He’s a committed fighter.
