These past few months, our team has been bee-sy 🐝 with building and collaborating with immigrant communities. Collectively, we engaged in over a dozen convenings and other events! Here’s a recap of a select few from what we’ve been up to:
1. Our Executive Director and advocacy team members attended the 2025 California Economic Summit. Dr. Iliana G. Perez served as a panelist for the “Public Procurement as a Tool for Equity” session, alongside the Latino Community Foundation’s Julian Castro, California Department of General Services’ Ana M. Lasso, and Maria Molina Solano.
2. Nicol, Mental Health Manager, joined AFT 1521’s LA Student Internship Program, COFEN, CHIRLA, and other nonprofits to discuss colleges’, nonprofits’, and local governments’ roles in ensuring access and dignity for immigrant families. Nicol highlighted our holistic approach of integrating mental health and well-being into higher education, career, entrepreneurship, and policy advocacy.
3. Interim Director of Higher Education, Madeleine, joined CSAC's College Affordability Summit and led Promising Practices Roundtables to build capacity for practitioners who support CA Dream Act applicants. Madeleine shared key resources and best practices so students can understand and successfully complete their financial aid applications.
