The Lincoln Project

Friend,

Bummed out about talking to your MAGA uncle from across the dinner table tomorrow?

Don’t be. We’ve got you covered with some talking points that will shut him down like a MAGA-controlled government.

When your uncle tells you he voted for Trump “because of the economy,” you can tell him that prices are up, not down under Trump. Ask him how much he spent on groceries last month. Ask him if that shiny new TV he wants on Black Friday really is cheaper this year. It isn't.

When your uncle tells you he voted for Trump because of his “America first” agenda, you can tell him that Trump is actually bringing in more foreign workers than any other president, and screwing over our farmers by importing billions of dollars worth of beef and soybeans from foreign countries. $40 billion to his friend in Argentina. $0 to American farmers.

When your uncle tells you he voted for Trump because “he actually shows up for work,” you can tell him that he has spent 72 of his 311 days in office (or 23.15%) on the golf course, costing American taxpayers over $100 billion.

And when your uncle starts up about the Epstein files being a hoax, let him know that according to The Wall Street Journal, Trump’s name was mentioned in 1,670 of the 2,324 email threads released by Congress.

That should get you through dinner for this year.

Look, you know our job is to be snarky. Make fun. Point out that this MAGA emperor has no clothes. Sorry for that mental image.

But you can come armed with facts. And even though empathy isn't exactly our thing, it's important to make sure your uncle (or whoever) knows they're getting screwed too. Don't ridicule him. Come at him with facts. And ask him what we need to do about it. Because when we pierce the MAGA veil, we win.

Next year, we think your MAGA uncle stays quiet. Not because he learns his lesson, but because we kick Trump’s ass so hard in the midterms that your uncle won’t even want to talk about it.

Help us make sure this is Trump’s last Thanksgiving with a House majority >>
