John, Last week at CareFest, something powerful took root. Over three days, caregivers, storytellers, advocacy partners, and changemakers came together to reflect on what has led us to this moment, honor the people who give and receive care, and begin imagining the care future we’re all working toward.
Across conversations, one message rang clear: every act of care is a seed, and when we plant them together, we grow something stronger than any of us could build alone.
This year, we saw firsthand how funding cuts, long waitlists, and dwindling resources made it even harder for families to get the care they need. And still, caregivers, care recipients, and care advocates found ways to show up with love, resilience, and creativity. That includes you, John.
As we approach Thanksgiving, we want to share a note of gratitude for everything you’ve done this year. With your help and support, we are boldly envisioning a new future for care.
At CareFest, we were joined by our Executive Director Ai-jen Poo, Creative Care Council member Richard Lui, Tarana Burke, Jane Fonda, and many more. We gathered and showcased stories from caregivers across the country. And together, we charted a future where:
* Care is community. I was reminded that caregiving isn’t something we do alone – it reshapes our relationships, identities, and how we show up for one another.
* Our stories are powerful. Hearing caregivers and creators share their experiences made clear how storytelling can shift culture and spark real policy change.
* Hope grows when we gather. The energy in every session showed that when families, care workers, and advocates come together, new possibilities start to take root.
* Care is the blueprint for the future we deserve. From intergenerational care to immigrant caregivers, men in caregiving roles, and the future of care work – every conversation revealed how care can guide us toward a more connected and caring future.
We’re not stopping here.
As we move into the final weeks of the year, we’re carrying forward the momentum that began at CareFest by uplifting even more stories, growing stronger networks, and boldly establishing our vision of a more caring future.
Thank you for being part of a movement that continues to choose hope, connection, and possibility.
With care,
Nicole Jorwic, Chief Program Officer
