Right now, in Los Angeles, on a two-mile stretch of Figueroa Street known as “The Blade” — 12-year-old girls are being sold in the open.

They are children from our own foster care system. Lured online. Beaten when they don’t meet their quotas. Forced to walk the streets in fear, while the law ties the hands of police who long to save them.

In Los Angeles, teams recently uncovered ties between local gangs and online recruitment rings targeting foster girls as young as 11.

The tactics are chilling: fake modeling jobs, false promises of safety, social media “boyfriends.” Within weeks, those same children are trapped in trafficking cycles, abused, branded, and discarded when they no longer earn enough for their captors.
