Dear Friend,
Last Thursday, Leader Stacey Abrams and Dr. Michelle Sternthal (Community
Catalyst’s Director of Government Affairs) joined us for our [ [link removed] ]November
Community Zoom Meeting. Thank you to everyone who joined us—we were so
excited to see you!
Even though the government shutdown is over, many families are still
struggling financially, especially when it comes to health care. Starting
on January 1st, some of the tax credits that help families buy health
insurance under the Affordable Care Act are set to run out. Open
enrollment started on November 1st and families have already begun going
to [ [link removed] ]HealthCare.gov to renew or choose a plan. But this year, many
families will find the cost of their coverage has doubled or even tripled!
In the recently passed spending bill, Republicans in Congress left out
critical insurance tax credits that millions use to buy coverage. These
skyrocketing premiums will force many to choose between paying for
insurance or other household necessities, or pushing families out of
coverage altogether.
MomsRising members heard directly from Leader Stacey Abrams about what the
loss of federal health subsidies could mean for their family, shared
personal stories with her about how the current changes to health care are
impacting them, and connected with one another to find out how we can come
together to take action in our communities.
We are very grateful for our MomsRising team members Kristin, Katrina,
Felicia, Donna, Ruth, Olivia, Catalina, and Diarra for organizing this
powerful conversation! And the biggest thank you goes to every participant
who listened, offered their experiences, asked thoughtful questions, and
was in community with us.

Take Action with MomsRising
1- Quick signature: [ [link removed] ]Lower health care costs and end #Trumpflation
2- Share your story: [ [link removed] ]How are cuts to health care and rising health
care costs impacting your family?
Bonus Action: We’ve launched a new [ [link removed] ]Protect Medicaid Toolkit ([ [link removed] ]En
español – Protejamos a Medicaid) designed to make it easy for you to take
online action against the devastating Medicaid cuts! It’s so important to
stand up and fight back for the care we deserve. Use this toolkit and your
voice to:
* Share your Medicaid story with your community! You can use our simple
recording tool to record a video, write it out (maybe even both!)
Sharing your story will make a huge difference in helping push out
elected leaders (and people within your own community) to understand
why Medicaid is so needed and so important.
* Create and share a custom Medicaid framed photo. Yes, that’s right!
Download a picture of yourself, a family member, and/or friend (with
their consent, of course) and show your support for Medicaid by
customizing it with a unique frame then post it on social media.
* [ [link removed] ]Share these downloadable graphics on social media! The graphics
are available in both English and [ [link removed] ]Spanish, with pre-made captions,
ready to be shared on your social media. Be sure to tag your members
of Congress and use hashtags: #ProtectMedicaid and #CanceltheCuts.
