Dear John,
In 2025, Wildlands Network achieved a crucial goal in its long history.
For the first time, the board adopted a strategic plan to guide our actions toward concrete, ambitious 2030 targets, with several important milestones along the way.
Built on our staff and board’s decades of hands-on, international conservation experience, the plan focuses on four foundational components of rewilding in North America:
1. Restore native animals to Wildway landscapes
2. Align government action across borders to protect and restore wildlife corridors
3. Remove obstacles to wildlife movement and migration
4. Preserve, restore, and connect undeveloped wildlife habitat
We’ll unveil the details of our plan to tackle these issues in the new year – Wildlands Network’s 35th anniversary! I couldn’t be prouder of this group and its three-plus decades of experience building coalitions dedicated to land stewardship and species protection and recovery across North America.
As a long-time member of Wildlands Network, first as a staff member in its early days and now as board president, I am amazed and delighted at the growth we’ve experienced. From its start as a volunteer board-run organization in the ‘90s, to a thriving multi-national team of nearly 30 staff members in 2025, we’ve come a long way and have many victories to commemorate.
The entire board and I are also incredibly thankful for the greater Wildlands Network community and our supporters. You have made all of this possible.
Today, I’d like to invite you to join me and the board at year’s end by investing in this organization and its future as a champion for wildlife across North America.
Right now, all donations, up to $50,000, will be matched by our generous partners at the Biophilia Foundation.
