Dear friend, it's your Congresswoman, Gwen Moore. I hope you are all staying safe and warm this holiday season. I want to share some updates on how I have been serving you and share my upmost gratitude. I am so thankful to represent each of you in Congress, it is a privilege and an honor. I wish you all a happy and blessed Thanksgiving!
Fighting Hunger in Milwaukee

I so enjoyed talking with seniors and delivering them lunch with County Executive David Crowley; we had a wonderful time. I thank Meals on Wheels for their ongoing work keeping our most vulnerable fed! I also got the chance to connect with some fellow knitters! I was so impressed by these talented knitters, Mary E. Johnson, Cyndi Coleman, and Ellease Mayo.
What's at Stake for Affordable Health Care
I joined Joe Mathieu from Bloomberg TV to discuss the economy and the consequences of Republicans allowing ACA tax credits to expire. This discussion is no longer abstract for millions of Americans, who are seeing firsthand their health care premiums soar and wondering how they will make a way. I will keep pressing for meaningful relief. Watch here.
Recognizing our Veterans

Veterans Day is an opportunity to honor those who have bravely served our country. I enjoyed attending the Milwaukee County Veterans Association Annual Veterans Day Dinner and lifting up veterans in our community.
Protecting Access to SNAP aka FoodShare
The so-called Big, Beautiful Bill targets SNAP benefits with ineffective paperwork requirements and should be reversed. In a Ways and Means Work and Welfare hearing, I had the opportunity to discuss my legislation, which would exempt SNAP paperwork requirements for veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness, and foster youth aging out of the system. My legislation would protect access to SNAP and remove these bureaucratic barriers to people receiving the food they need. Read more on my proposal here.
Discussing Maternal Health

As a mother, grandmother and great grandmother, maternal health is personal to me and a key legislative priority. Cuts to BadgerCare are coming as our country faces a maternal health crisis. Last month, I hosted a maternal roundtable in Milwaukee with mothers in our community, advocates, health care providers and local elected officials. We discussed the impact of the so-called Big, Beautiful Bill and how its cuts to BadgerCare can hurt mothers and their babies. I will continue engaging our community on this issue.
Fighting for SNAP

At Nourish Milwaukee, I joined County Executive Crowley and other local leaders and advocates to discuss the harms of the government shutdown, including how the Trump administration sued repeatedly to avoid funding SNAP and FoodShare. I am grateful to Governor Evers for protecting 700,000 Wisconsinites who depend on FoodShare.
I also joined State Senator Dora Drake, State Senator Latonya Johnson, and Pastor Steve Tipton of El Bethel Church of God in Christ to highlight how cruel, abrupt cuts to SNAP harm our constituents.
Meeting MKE Students in D.C.!
It was a real joy to meet with students from Marquette High and Cristo Rey Jesuit High School during their D.C. visit. I always enjoying seeing my constituents in the nation's capital!
Staying Warm This Season
For those who may need assistance staying warm this season, there is help. Head to keepwarmmke.org for more information and to see if you may qualify for energy assistance.
I recently joined my colleagues in urging the Trump Administration to get LIHEAP funds out the door as quickly as possible, so that states can get assistance out to families who need it.
Keeping Food on The Table this Season
If you need emergency food, I encourage my constituents to reach out for help. You can text MKEfood to 898-211. You can also call 2-1-1 for assistance. You can also find a food pantry closest to you through Feeding America Wisconsin.
