John, as we gather around the table with loved ones, the reality is that far too many of our friends and neighbors are struggling to put food on the table day in and day out.
And this isn’t just a problem for the working class; the fact is that 1.1 million college students depend on SNAP benefits to get by.
Need to find a food bank?
And now, thanks to Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill”, in just a matter of months, millions of people are projected to be kicked out of the nation’s largest anti-hunger program, leaving them just a few months to find ways to fill in the gaps.
The majority is imposing stricter work requirements, and eventually, states will have to share the cost of SNAP benefits, which could force additional funding cuts.
During the government shutdown, when food assistance funding was cut off, we saw just how many people depend on those benefits. Food banks and pantries across the country saw a sharp increase in demand — some food banks saw an upwards of 1800% increase in demand.
There is no doubt that in the coming months, as prices remain high, incomes stay flat, and benefits are cut, more people will turn to food banks to put food on the table. If you need help, click here to find your local food bank.

P.S. Our local food banks and pantries will need our support. If you can afford it, you can make a donation to help feed our neighbors.
