![]() I want to let you in on a little-known function of the Kansas Republican Party. Every two years, GOP lawmakers, their allies, and big-money donors all gather together for a big state convention, where they write down their official policy platform for the upcoming elections. Look, I don’t know exactly what their platform will call for two months from now, when Kansas Republicans gather for their latest convention. But if last year’s policy platform is any indication, we have a pretty good idea of what their latest agenda will look like: Banning same-sex marriage. Taking away abortion rights. Further restricting Medicaid access — so that Kansans who can’t afford health insurance will lose access to the care they need.
Here’s the thing, though: It’s not just the Kansas GOP we have to worry about. Donald Trump, Mike Johnson, even out-of-state super PACs have all singled me out, vowing to do whatever it takes to kick me out of office and replace me with one of their own. But I’m no stranger to tough fights. When I first ran for Congress in 2018, people told me it was impossible to flip this seat. But I did it anyway. When Kansas Republicans gerrymandered our district in 2021, all the political pundits thought I was done for. But we won again. Now, I’m facing my toughest fight yet. But I know we can win — as long as I have the support of a strong, grassroots coalition behind me. So please, if you don’t want to give a single extra vote to the Kansas GOP’s dangerous, backwards agenda, chip in whatever you can to help me protect this district.
With gratitude, Sharice |
