The Emerging Leaders program is designed with a clear purpose: to mentor, train, and elevate young Muslim Americans as they build influence in the civic and political arena. Each year, a cohort from every Emgage state chapter participates in a comprehensive pathway that includes in-class education and training, community organizing, and a hands-on Policy Advocacy Day. Through sessions led by Emgage staff, board members, and expert practitioners, participants learn practical skills in storytelling, civic engagement, organizing, politics, and policy.
Beyond the classroom, Emerging Leaders gain real-world experience canvassing in their communities, mobilizing voters, facilitating community events, meeting with elected officials, and engaging in policy research. This combination of education and fieldwork equips participants with the confidence, skills, and networks needed to influence change. Many graduates go on to further involvement with Emgage through internships, fellowships, and staff roles.
This year’s outcomes demonstrate the power of investing in our youth. And as we look to 2026, we are committed to expanding this program even further reaching more states, training more leaders, and deepening our impact.
