VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump, Mike Johnson get ominous news after MTG's resignation

Punchbowl News dropped a bomb this morning, claiming that Marjorie Taylor Greene's shocking resignation announcement was not the end, but rather the beginning of an exodus from Congress by fed-up Republican members. One unnamed GOP rep explained: "This entire White House team has treated ALL members like garbage. ALL... The arrogance of this White House is off putting to members who are run roughshod and threatened... More explosive resignations are coming. It's a tinder box. Morale has never been lower. Mike Johnson will be stripped of his gavel and they will lose the majority before this term is out." Hell yes. And also, cue the world's tiniest, caterwauling violin for the most obsequious caucus in modern American history. You make the bed you lay in, chumps!

Mark Kelly issues defiant response to Pentagon investigation tweet
Arizona Democrat and decorated veteran Mark Kelly let the world know he has exactly zero fucks to give after Pete Hegseth's announced — via tweet — that the Pentagon will investigate the former Navy pilot and NASA astronaut for possible breaches of military law. Hegseth, ever desperate to please his insatiable MAGA cult leader, has taken the extraordinary step of weaponizing the Pentagon to threaten a sitting member of Congress, prompting an epic clapback from Kelly himself: "When I was 22 years old, I commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy and swore an oath to the Constitution. I upheld that oath through flight school, multiple deployments on the USS Midway, 39 combat missions in Operation Desert Storm, test pilot school, four space shuttle flights at NASA, and every day since I retired — which I did after my wife Gabby was shot in the head while serving her constituents. In combat, I had a missile blow up next to my jet and flew through anti-aircraft fire to drop bombs on enemy targets. At NASA, I launched on a rocket, commanded the space shuttle, and was part of the recovery mission that brought home the bodies of my astronaut classmates who died on Columbia. I did all of this in service to this country that I love and has given me so much. Secretary Hegseth’s tweet is the first I heard of this. I also saw the President’s posts saying I should be arrested, hanged, and put to death. If this is meant to intimidate me and other members of Congress from doing our jobs and holding this administration accountable, it won’t work. I’ve given too much to this country to be silenced by bullies who care more about their own power than protecting the Constitution." Hear, hear.

White House declares all of Trump’s orders to military are legal
Boy, Donald and the imperialist MAGA ghouls holed up in the White House sure are giving off strong "When the president does it, that means that it is not illegal" Nixon vibes, eh? How'd that turn out for Tricky Dick again?

Judge dismisses Comey and James indictments after finding that Trump's prosecutor was illegally appointed
Funny thing about sycophants: their blinding loyalty may score them points in the short term with the narcissist they serve, but that sure as shit doesn't mean they can actually deliver where and when it matters most — ya know, in the real world. In a rush to appoint a servile loyalist who would do the bidding of the nincompoop-in-chief, no questions asked, Pam Bondi's Department of (in)Justice tapped Lindsay Halligan, a former insurance attorney and personal lawyer to Trump, as interim US attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Halligan, a former Miss Colorado beauty pageant contestant, had nearly no prosecutorial experience prior to her appointment and, boy, did it show. In the end, Halligan's glaring inexperience didn't matter. US District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie issued rulings yesterday immediately dismissing cases against both James Comey and Letitia James — political enemies targeted by Trump for having the audacity to do their jobs — because Halligan's appointment was, in fact, illegal. Currie wrote, "All actions flowing from Ms. Halligan’s defective appointment were unlawful exercises of executive power and are hereby set aside." In a video statement following the dismissal, Comey said, "I am grateful that the court ended the case against me, which was a prosecution based on malevolence and incompetence and a reflection of what the Justice Department has become under Donald Trump, which is heartbreaking."

Republican Sen. Ron Johnson dumps cold water on Trump's idea to give Americans $2,000 tariff "rebate" check:s "We can't afford it"

Wisconsin Republican Ron Johnson, who of course voted in favor of one of the largest transfers of wealth to the to top 1% in American history — aka Donald's deficit-busting Big Bill of Bullshit — came out against Trump's latest faux-populist scheme: $2,000 tariff rebate checks for everyone! Johnson rightly pointed out that we simply don't have half a trillion dollars laying around to pay for the program (gee, wonder why!) and, having done his part to secure trillions in long-term tax cuts and savings for the wealthiest among us, revived that most anachronistic of Republican talking points: fiscal conservatism. Speaking with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business, Johnson said, "Well first of all, Maria, we’re $38 trillion in debt. We’ve averaged $1.89 trillion deficits over the last five years. In the next 10 years, the projection’s about $26 trillion from accumulated deficits. We have to address the deficit problem. We are on borrowed time here. So many people are whistling by the graveyard. If we're bringing in revenue through the tariffs, that oughta be applied to reduce the deficit, not just making a cash payment to Americans." Funny how they always seem to find their fiscal responsibility bona fides right after a massive giveaway to their richest buddies.

Florida judge throws out Truth Social’s defamation lawsuit against The Guardian
A Florida judge — appointed by then-Republican Gov. Rick Scott — granted motions to dismiss to The Guardian and other defendants in a defamation lawsuit filed by Truth Social, in just the latest example of the imbecile-in-chief's legal actions against media companies not holding up in court. Ever the victim and never not wronged, Trump had his underlings at Truth Social file bogus defamation claims, because, well, journalists dared to report on his many — and often times incredibly sketchy — business dealings. Judge Hunter Carroll of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court for Sarasota County wasn't buying it, noting in his ruling that merely reporting on negative information is not enough to establish actual malice. Better luck next several hundred times, Donnie.

Republican senator agrees to pay $5.1 million in back taxes after DOJ sues

GOP Sen. Jim Justice, a West Virginia coal magnate once dubbed "the nation’s top mining safety delinquent," and his wife were forced to cough up more than $5 million in back taxes dating back to 2009 after the IRS placed liens of more than $8 million on the couple and ordered Justice to sell off six of his companies to help satisfy debt obligations. Justice, who served as governor for eight years before heading to the US Senate earlier this year, sold Bluestone Coal Corporation — his family business — to a Russian company called Mechel for approximately $436 MILLION in cash. Six years later, Mechel sold it back to Justice for 99% less than what he had sold it for. Despite this incredible turn of events, a Forbes report published in January said Justice’s net worth is "less than zero" because his finances are "severely troubled" thanks to mountains of debt. Any questions? Oh, lots? Yeah, samesies. And if you're wondering just how real Bernie Sanders' "rise of two very separate and distinct Americas" claim actually is, the answer is very, very fucking real.
