Just in time for conversations around the dining room table, our Paying for College and Choosing a Career Pathway guides are back in stock and available for download, or bulk order, at no cost. This year the response to the guides was so strong we ran out in record time! Whether you need some for your office, a stack for the common area, or somewhere in between, head to our website to order before they are gone again!
The application is now available on the Minnesota Office of Higher Education website for the Use of Force Training Grant. This one-time grant created during the 2025 Minnesota legislative session, awards funds to eligible postsecondary institutions for providing eligible use of force training for eligible peace officers. Grantees can receive $450 for each peace officer that completes an eligible training program.
Minnesota Goes to College and the ECMC College Place are offering a spring collection of their highly attended College Planning Series webinars. These six webinars feature insightful information for students and families to help demystify common topics in the higher education world. As an added bonus, registered student attendees will be entered into a drawing to win one of two $1,000 scholarships!

- Feb. 3 - Scholarships 101
- Feb. 10 - FAFSA 101
- Feb. 17 - Understand Your Financial Aid Offer
- Feb. 24 - Understanding You Transfer Credit

Each session will have live interpretation in Spanish, Hmong, and Somali.
Direct Admissions is off to an amazing start to the 2025-2026 school year and it is all due to the amazing work being done across high schools and college campuses. So far 87% (224 out of 257) of participating high schools have submitted data, with over 33,000 surveys sent out to students. This hard work is paying off too! Nearly 4,000 students have requested proactive admission at the time of this email.

In October, Jessica Yang, senior implementation manager for Get Ready GEAR UP Minnesota, participated in an Is College Still Worth It? panel hosted by MPR News’ North Star Journey Live and Sahan Journal Community Conversations. The panel, which featured speakers ranging from college student to entrepreneur, explored the pros and cons of higher education and the growing range of postsecondary pathways.
