Amid an administration hell bent on tamping down dissent and a legacy press pandering for profit, the need for independent, nonprofit media is impossible to ignore.
Fascism spreads when fear wins. But we refuse to cower in silence. In fact, we will only get louder.
Together, we can fight for a more hopeful and democratic future for journalism that puts people—not profits—first.
We’re in the second week of our big year-end fundraising appeal. This fund drive is our biggest, and what we raise now sets our often-unpredictable finances up for the year ahead.
We are still working to close a wide gap in fundraising, amid dips in giving and the dissolution of foundations that have supported FAIR over the years. What we are able to raise during this month’s fundraising drive sets us up for the year ahead, and ensures our small but scrappy staff and freelancers can produce the next FAIR.org analysis, issue of Extra! and episode of CounterSpin, and keep nearly four decades of archived content free to access online.
More people are waking up to the fact that the corporate press rarely shows them the full picture. But it’s not enough for people to unsubscribe from the New York Times or cancel cable. We need to offer robust alternatives that inform the public and strengthen their communities.
