Last week, I lost my mini-van’s keys while grabbing a last-minute
ingredient from the grocery store to cook my kids' dinner—and I had to
walk all the way home.

Being a single mom means all the stresses of life: stretching a grocery
budget, meal planning, car maintenance, and yes, even dealing with things
like lost keys.

It’s not the end of the world for me, but it is a reminder that when we
talk about which candidate will actually lower costs for Californians, it
comes down to who is living our cost crisis and the stress Californians
are feeling firsthand. I’ll never lose sight of what millions of families
need when I’m Governor, because I’ve experienced those needs too.

Here’s the truth: my billionaire opponents will never understand what life
is like for the rest of us in California.

When push comes to shove, they can't really relate to the struggles that
normal people go through on a daily basis.

I'm running for governor because California deserves a leader who will put
our families first, not billionaires and special interests.
