That’s exactly what Mamdani is proposing in New York City. He wants the city government to take over grocery stores. If that happens, New Yorkers will face higher prices, longer lines, fewer choices, and even food shortages — exactly the failures that socialism has produced everywhere it’s been tried.
Every few years, it seems this country needs another reminder: socialism has failed in every nation that adopted it. That’s why we passed this resolution — to make it crystal clear that America will not follow the path of Cuba, Venezuela, or the Soviet Union.
And let me be even more clear: Mamdani will destroy New York City if he enacts the socialist agenda he campaigned on. Whether it’s government-run healthcare or government-run grocery stores, when you eliminate competition and replace it with unaccountable bureaucrats, costs skyrocket and quality collapses. Free markets — not socialism — drive prices down and give families more options.
