“Angela is exactly what Los Angeles needs in Congress right now: a
working-class champion with the moral courage to not only fight back
against the Trump administration’s cruelty with the urgency it demands but
also take on the Democratic Party when the corporate establishment fails
to fight for our communities.”
Hey John, it’s
Alexandra Rojas! I’m the Executive Director of Justice Democrats and I’m
coming to you personally today to explain why Justice Democrats endorsed
Angela for Congress.
I said it to Politico, and I’ll say it again: Angela is exactly what Los
Angeles needs in Congress right now.
Angela is a 30-year-old, working-class champion with a strong moral
backbone and a steadfast commitment to her community. Unlike CA-34’s
current Representative, she will not only fight back against the Trump
administration’s chaos and cruelty with the urgency it demands, but also
take on the Democratic Party when the corporate establishment fails to
fight for our communities.
And like all Justice Democrats, Angela isn’t taking a dime of corporate
PAC money: unlike Jimmy Gomez, she won’t be answering to Trump’s donors or
real estate developers. Her campaign is a people-powered community
movement — and that’s one of many reasons why we are so proud to support
her.

now? It’s still early in this race, and every single donation makes a huge
difference.

Angela is a born-and-raised Angeleno who understands her community’s most
pressing issues because she’s lived them. Growing up in East LA as the
daughter of a deportee and a single mother, she experienced the terrifying
reality of family separation firsthand, after her father was deported when
Angela was just 15. Her mother was left to raise Angela and her 3 sisters
alone overnight — a nightmare more and more families across Los Angeles,
California, and beyond are experiencing themselves as Trump and his ICE
goons take over and terrify communities nationwide.
Since 2017, the working-class community Angela grew up in and still lives
in today has been represented by Rep. Jimmy Gomez, a politician who’d like
you to think he’s a progressive, but who, in reality, has made his career
doing AIPAC’s bidding, voting to pass Trump’s crypto agenda, and selling
out to industries like private equity and real estate.
Gomez’s campaign relies on the same lobbies that fuel Trump’s rise,
destabilize our economy, and displace our neighbors.
But where Gomez went to Washington D.C. and closed the door on his
constituents, Angela is rooted in her lifelong community. From seeing her
neighbors, teachers, and classmates come together to support her family
after her father’s deportation, to watching her mom work two and three
jobs to make ends meet, to serving as the President of her local elected
Neighborhood Council, Angela’s experiences are the foundation of her
values, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to fight for working families
like her own.
This race is about a young, working-class Angeleno running to represent
the working-class community she was born and raised in, versus a corporate
member of the political establishment who has turned his back on that very
community for some PAC checks.
Angela can take Jimmy on and win, but it’s going to take a groundswell of
grassroots support from this progressive movement. This race isn’t just
about Los Angeles — it’s about whether our Congress will be powered by
working-class fighters like Angela, or bought off by corporate PACs and
Trump’s billionaire backers like Jimmy Gomez.

and clear to all of CA-34 and beyond: East LA won’t be bought. Donate
anything you can today to help make a difference.
Thanks for your support,
Alexandra Rojas
