It’s a time to be thankful for what we have and a time to give to those less fortunate. Although the federal government shutdown has ended, thousands of San Diego families still need food, clothing, and so much more.
If possible, I urge you to give of your time, food, and clothing to local organizations that help our neighbors every day, providing comfort to those in need.

November is National Veterans and Military Families Month. San Diego is a proud military town, and our City is focused on recruiting veterans for employment and connecting them to services.
Thank you, City of San Diego veterans, National Guard, reservists, and military spouses for your service.

Breaking Ground on a New Park
|
We broke ground on the long-awaited Solterra Vista Park in the Pacific Highlands Ranch Neighborhood. The efforts of neighbors and community leaders ensured that the City remembered the importance of this space to our community. Thank you, PHR Rec Council, Del Mar Union School District, MJS Construction, Tri-Pointe Homes, and San Diego Parks and Recreation.

La Jolla residents and other coastal neighborhoods were among the first to receive the new grey City trash bins.
Bin delivery is the first on-the-ground step as we modernize collection, improve and increase City services, and ensure we are using 21st-century methods to track our work and collect only from those who are qualified.
Thank you to the Environmental Services Department for the strategic planning and coordination behind the rollout today and over the next several months—and for keeping safety, service, and sustainability at the forefront.

Reinforcing Our Rights to Due Process
|
The unanimous passage of the Due Process and Safety Ordinance protects our residents, police officers, and employees from potential involvement in unconstitutional federal overreach. We acted to defend the rights of San Diegans.
The ordinance isn’t only about our constitutional rights, but about human rights, human dignity, equality, and decency.
Thank you, Councilmember Elo-Rivera, for your leadership. We now look to cities across the region to stand firm with San Diego and uphold our constitutional rights.
