Quick, this is urgent: The future of US humanitarian aid — and the millions who rely on U.S. support — is at critical risk. In recent weeks, we’ve seen a horrific escalation of violence in Sudan, Hurricane Melissa’s devastating impact on the Caribbean, and continued challenges to providing aid into Gaza despite the ceasefire. And the World Food Program warns of extreme and growing hunger challenges in 16 countries in the months ahead — including in the DRC, Nigeria, Syria, Myanmar, and Afghanistan. Despite growing global needs, the US government continues to slow walk humanitarian assistance. It is critical that the Administration changes course and scales up U.S. global humanitarian programs to meet these challenges. Right now is a critical window for the House and Senate to negotiate and set humanitarian and development funding levels and policy priorities for the year ahead. Seize this opportunity to demand that Congress push the Administration to scale up its responses to humanitarian crises and to stand up for continued U.S. investment in foreign assistance. Send a letter to your representatives in Congress now!
Our teams will continue to respond to these crises — and with your support, we’re saving lives, helping communities recover, and supporting people as they work to create a brighter future. But our government must also do its part, and your voice is needed now to convince them to make humanitarian aid funding a top priority. Send a letter to your Members of Congress today! Thank you, The Mercy Corps team |
