John, Donald Trump just doubled down and endorsed this post:

"Go get all those traitorous sons of bitches for sedition at the very least. Those pompous traitorous communists should be impeached and prosecuted."

The president has called for my arrest. Called for my hanging. Called for me to go to jail. Now he’s calling for my impeachment and prosecution. His lawlessness is out of control.

Let me make something crystal clear to the President: I will not be intimidated, I will uphold my oath, and I will never stop doing my job for the good people of Western PA.

The oath to the Constitution comes above all—not loyalty to any politician, not obedience to any man, not fear of any threat.

The video that I put out with several of my congressional colleagues restated the fundamental truths that the oath that servicemembers swear is to the Constitution, and that they—who are required to obey legal orders—cannot be required to follow illegal ones.

This is a basic lesson our troops learn, whether at Naval Academy Plebe Summer (as I did), boot camp or wherever they start their time in uniform.

In response to this message, Donald Trump threatened my life.

It is outrageous (and telling) that the president considers it punishable by death for someone like me to restate the bedrock principle that the Constitution is the highest authority in the country. The president is the leader of the free world with the loudest microphone: his words matter.

In one of his many threats against me, he said that because of my message, “we won’t have a country anymore.”

The president is dead wrong. His reckless words, his lawless threats, his calls for arresting and killing those who refuse to bow to him—that is what tears at the fabric of our Republic.

I’ll be damned if I let that become the new norm in America.

I took an oath in the Navy to protect and defend the Constitution—and I still live by it.
