My name is Will, and I’m the Deputy Executive Director here at the DCCC. I’m reaching out to our top supporters with an urgent update on our fight to flip the House blue.
After this month’s elections, Democrats have every reason to feel good about our chances in 2026.
We won key victories across the country.
Democrats won nearly everywhere this year, scoring key wins in the gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey by double-digits, sweeping key contests across Pennsylvania, and achieving a monumental win in California by passing Proposition 50 -- neutralizing the GOP gerrymandering scheme in Texas. I also can’t help but point out that both Governors-elect Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill are former DCCC Red-to-Blue candidates who flipped their seats in the last “blue wave” election. At the DCCC, we recruit the best candidates to run in tough districts, building the bench for the Democratic Party.
Latino voters are souring on Donald Trump and the Republican Party.
Some of the biggest swings towards Democrats came among Latino communities. In New Jersey’s most Hispanic county, Mikie Sherrill overperformed Kamala Harris’ 2024 margin by 21.6 points -- the largest overperformance in any New Jersey county. We saw the same trend in Virginia, where Abigail Spanberger overperformed Harris by over 21 points in the state’s most Latino community. It’s clear that the GOP’s focus on tax cuts for billionaires rather than lowering costs for families has shattered their image with Latino voters.
The race for the House is still neck-and-neck.
These results are encouraging, and it’s clear that the opportunity for a big blue wave is building. But we can’t get complacent.
Republicans are still trying to rig the maps and steal seats across the country, ban voting-by-mail, and parachute massive sums of cash into key districts. They have already amassed a warchest of $98 million -- much of it from Donald Trump’s billionaire friends. Make no mistake, the race for the House is still as close as ever.
