Across Instagram, “hate shops” are selling racist and antisemitic merchandise – and they’re thriving.

In new research CCDH conducted with the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), we trace how Instagram is quietly helping build an economy around bigotry.

We looked closely at 11 algorithmically recommended accounts promoting racist and antisemitic content while selling hate merch. Together, these accounts amassed 1.5 billion views.

Earlier this year we warned that Meta's decision to dismantle key protections could lead to a surge in hate. Now we see that the longest-running accounts in our set saw their views nearly quadruple since the changes.

The products being sold are not harmless. Among them were horrifying t-shirts featuring:

• Nazi salutes and pictures of Hitler

• Racist tropes linking black people with criminality

• A slogan stating “Life is a race. Be a racist”

Friend, these are more than disturbing designs. They carry messages that have long been used to isolate, threaten, and endanger Jewish and Black communities – messages that have accompanied real harm in the past and continue to do so today.

It is unacceptable. Join us and call on social media giants and lawmakers to act against the spread of anti-Jewish hate.

Meta must stop enabling and amplifying hate-for-profit.
