John,
This week I introduced a new resolution in Congress to formally recognize the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and end our country’s complicity in it.
Can you sign our petition today to support this resolution and demand Congress stop supporting genocide?
Sponsored by 20 of my colleagues in the House of Representatives, this resolution lays out evidence showing that Israel’s actions meet the legal definition of genocide under the Genocide Convention—including the Israeli military’s own data, which says that 83% of Palestinians killed in the past two years have been civilians.
The resolution demands the U.S. follow its obligations to prevent and punish the crime of genocide—including by ending weapons transfers, stopping military aid, sanctioning Israeli officials, and holding other perpetrators of this genocide to account.
House Resolution 876 also notes that our government has sent $52 billion of our tax dollars to Israel’s genocidal military over the past two years, through military aid and weapons transfers.
And now, the Trump administration is negotiating with Israel’s government to send an additional $76 billion worth of weapons, paid for with our tax dollars.
I’m standing with the majority of Americans in demanding our government stop funding and arming the Israeli government’s genocide of Palestinians. Will you stand with us today?
Add your name to demand Congress recognize the genocide in Gaza and end U.S. complicity in mass atrocities against the Palestinian people.
Israel’s government has continually violated its so-called “ceasefire” in Gaza. And this week, the UN Security Council outrageously voted to increase Trump’s control over the U.S.-Israeli occupation of Gaza—further undermining Palestinians’ legal right to self-determination.
Already, Israel’s government has illegal control over Gaza: As intense flooding destroys the tents of hundreds of thousands of forcibly displaced Palestinians with nowhere to go, Israel’s government is blocking emergency shelter as well as food from entering Gaza. This week’s UN Security Council vote further entrenches this occupation.
Our government must urgently take action to reverse course. As the Political Director of Jewish Voice for Peace Action affirmed when endorsing my new resolution:
“For over two years, the U.S. has been a full partner in the Israeli government’s genocide against Palestinians. Presidents and members of Congress have denied and erased Israel’s ongoing atrocities in Gaza, shielded Israel from accountability in the international arena, and attempted to dehumanize Palestinians.”
She added: “Congresswoman Tlaib and the original co-sponsors joining her on this historic resolution are making clear that this complicity must come to an end.”
Please join us and the majority of Americans demanding an end to this genocide: Add your name to support my resolution today.
Thank you. Together, we’ll keep fighting state violence and demanding human rights be respected—at home and abroad.
With you in the fight for life, peace, and justice,
Rashida

John,
This week, the United Nations Security Council voted to give the U.S. and Israel more control to illegally occupy Gaza, further stripping away Palestinians’ right to self-determination.
This plan—which former senior UN human rights official Craig Mokhiber called a “colonial outrage”—grants Israel even more impunity to continue mass atrocities. Meanwhile, Israel’s government continues violently violating its “ceasefire” in Gaza and surrounding countries.
We can’t let this defiance of international law continue. We have a moral and legal responsibility to reject genocide denial, call this what it is, and end our country’s complicity.
So I introduced a new resolution in Congress to officially recognize the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and demand the U.S. follow its binding obligations to do all it can to prevent genocide.
Please sign on today to show your support for this much-needed resolution to recognize the genocide of the Palestinian people—and demand Congress take immediate action to abide by international law and end this genocide.
Joining over 100 organizations endorsing this resolution, the human rights group Amnesty International USA wrote:
“Amnesty International calls on all members of Congress to urgently support this resolution and ensure the U.S. begins taking the actions necessary to prevent and punish Israel’s genocide in Gaza.”
Twenty of my colleagues in Congress have co-sponsored my resolution, House Resolution 876, which:
-
Documents overwhelming evidence establishing that the Israeli government has committed genocide and lays out how its military and government have also demonstrated a clear pattern of genocidal intent at the highest levels
-
Demands the U.S. follow international law and its obligations (as a party to the Genocide Convention) to prevent and punish the crime of genocide—including by ending weapons transfers, stopping military aid, and sanctioning Israeli officials
-
Calls for investigating and prosecuting U.S. individuals and corporations that have participated in this genocide
-
Calls on the U.S. to cooperate with the International Criminal Court and the United Nations to hold Israeli perpetrators accountable
-
Pushes to restore UNRWA funding to support desperately-needed humanitarian aid for Palestinians
-
Notes that in the past two years, the U.S. has sent nearly $22 billion in military aid to Israel and authorized over $30 billion in weapons deals
That’s $52 billion American taxpayer dollars funding the slaughter of Palestinians, while most Americans live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to pay for basic needs like housing, food, and healthcare.
After announcing that he’s forcing the 42 million Americans on SNAP to reapply for food stamps before they can get food assistance, Trump is now negotiating with Israel’s war criminal Prime Minister—who’s demanding a new weapons deal that would cost U.S. taxpayers over $76 billion.
Congress must act to stop these illegal weapons giveaways immediately.
Please add your name to demand Congress fulfill our country’s legal obligations to bring this genocide to an end, and hold the perpetrators accountable for their atrocities against Palestinians.
Thank you for fighting for the rights and human dignity of Palestinians and all people.
We must keep pushing to end the violent occupation of Palestine, including the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Last year, the International Court of Justice ruled that Israel must end its unlawful occupation, including illegal settlements, and withdraw from Gaza and the rest of Palestine “as rapidly as possible.”
The world’s top court added that Israel is violating the international prohibition against apartheid—and also mandated Israel to abide by international law and ensure Palestinians’ rights to reparations and return.
These rulings were unfortunately non-binding, so the United States and other governments must step in to enforce them. This is part of governments’ duty to uphold international law.
We will keep building the pressure and the power needed to change our country. I’m honored to fight alongside you for equity and liberation for all.
With you in the fight,
Rashida
