Good morning, friends! Ready for Thanksgiving?

This is the week that I always consider the one that kicks off the "holiday season." Thanksgiving has always been a favorite of mine (yes, I know, I say that about every holiday) because there are no expectations except delicious food, the people you love, and gratitude. I think I like it because it's lower pressure than gift-giving holidays. As usual, we'll host our 4th annual Online Friendsgiving on The OP!

If you plan to do some Black Friday shopping, PLEASE use links from The OP. At the top of the sidebar on the right-hand side of the website is a "portal" with some Amazon boxes at a door. Simply click on that and you'll be taken straight to the site, and The OP will earn a small commission. Of course, I will also be writing a Black Friday Sale post as well.

You may also want to check out our new Etsy store!

I always write from the heart on these messages and I have to do so again today. I know what I'm about to say may be unpopular, but I urge you to read it with an open mind because some of this is my eyewitness testimony, and other parts came from friends and neighbors.

ICE has been in the area, performing raids. But it isn't the raids that concern me as much as it is them setting up and asking random people where they were born. I saw a man at Walmart, leaving the store with diapers and baby formula in his cart, and he was asked questions, then shoved into a van, his purchases abandoned in the parking lot. On another day, when I went to pick up a prescription at Target, I saw a staging area with four Sprinter vans with the windows covered, guarded by police cars. Men in tactical gear walked up and asked two different women (that I saw - they were still there when I left) where they were born. I don't know the end result of those talks because I was pulling out of the store at the time.

What I'm seeing, if I can be frank, is masked men in tactical gear, holding rifles, asking for people's papers as they go about their daily business. I certainly don't carry proof of citizenship with me every day, and I wonder if these people do?

Friends sent me photos of vans stopping by places where landscaping companies had workers, just because they saw them laboring on the side of the road. Another friend sent me photos from her living room window of a bunch of armed, masked men running around in her apartment complex.

Arrests, and sometimes mere questioning, have been brutal. People thrown down hard on the pavement and manhandled, some of whom were American citizens. People have been pepper-sprayed while driving through checkpoints. CHECKPOINTS! In North Carolina, asking for papers!

I thought that the more left-leaning people in more left-leaning places were exaggerating, but it seems like they are not.

I voted to secure our borders. I want to see violent criminals immediately expelled from the country. Bye-bye to the people here illegally getting welfare and fancy hotel rooms. I understand that there are many people breaking the law, but why are people going about their day being targeted? And schools? And hospitals? This is not what I voted for.

I know that many may disagree with what I have to say, and may even unsubscribe. I hope that isn't the case, because I've always been about calling things as I see them. I called out the Biden administration countless times, and I would be a hypocrite if I didn't do the same now, especially given what I've personally seen.

I don't want to see masked commandos running around my apartment complex chasing a guy with a leaf blower. And even if you don't care about the guy with the leaf blower, I think it's only a matter of time before we see some collateral damage: hostages, carjackings to escape, a stray bullet striking an innocent person.

There has to be some kind of middle ground, doesn't there?

It's important to remember that, legally here or illegally here, we're dealing with human beings.

Courtesy and professionalism should be essential requirements for people who work for the federal government.

This has all spiralled into a huge mess, and I am not sure how we fix it. But surely, it doesn't have to be like this.

I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I truly love our OP readers.

Stay safe.

Be happy.

Love,

Daisy
