For nearly 20 years, the Living New Deal has been shining a light on a time when public service was a noble calling and Americans rallied to make our nation better for everyone. 

The New Deal gave hope to America. During a time of struggle and uncertainty, our government provided jobs and training for millions of unemployed; built affordable homes; furnished food for families in need; opened hospitals and clinics; restored spent farmland and forests; created national parks.   

The New Deal’s crowning achievement, Social Security, remains a vital, though now threatened, social safety net. These are but a few of the New Deal’s accomplishments.

In a country deeply divided, finding common ground won’t be easy. But the Living New Deal offers an example of how Americans came once together in desperate times to create a better future. Let’s do it again.
