Have you seen that a Republican took the lead in the California governor’s race?
That’s right—A Republican. In first place. In California.
In a recent poll, Republican Steve Hilton led Katie Porter by one point. And when you average out public polling, Katie is in first with two Republicans close behind.
Let us tell you why this is a serious warning sign:
1. Democrats could get locked out of the November election.
If Republicans rally around their candidates and we don’t unite behind Katie, Democrats risk being shut out of the top-two primary altogether. Californians would choose between two Republicans for governor.
2. Another billionaire just jumped into this race.
Katie now faces multiple opponents with nearly unlimited cash who can flood the airwaves with ads. They can write themselves massive campaign checks to splinter Democratic support even more.
3. There are still lots of undecided voters.
Katie wins when voters hear her plan to lower costs and protect our rights. But we have to reach undecided voters before other candidates do. That will take serious resources, but it’s the only way we’ll win this race.
