JOHN,
We’re not asking for money right now, we just want to share something important with you.
We wrote to you earlier this month when Speaker Mike Johnson actively blocked a duly elected Democrat from taking her seat. That was an extreme and anti-democratic abuse of power. We said as much at the time.
But something remarkable happened this week that shows exactly the kind of principled leadership we are fighting to elect.
Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, a Democrat who has won two consecutive elections in a Republican-leaning district, stood up against party leadership to demand accountability for a political corruption scheme.
She did this knowing full well that holding her party accountable would be difficult. She did this because she was thinking about her neighbors, her parents, and her pro-democracy values, not just the political calculus of Washington, D.C.
This is the very essence of what we’re all about at Win The Center. This is what it means to be a pragmatic, staunchly pro-democracy Democrat who puts the integrity of the institution and the values of the community over blind party loyalty.
You cannot effectively fight Trumpism—which attacks the very integrity of our elections and institutions—if you are not willing to stand up for true democracy and accountability within your own ranks. MGP proved that being rooted in local, honest values does not end with local issues; it’s married to the deepest values of democracy itself.
We are fighting to elect 218 more people like Marie Gluesenkamp Perez: Democrats who are willing to hold the line, build consensus, and demand honesty, even when it’s uncomfortable, and especially when it comes from our own ranks.
If MGP’s stand resonated with you, simply reply and let us know.
With gratitude, Win The Center
