With 2026 on the horizon, we wanted to make sure you saw an exciting update from our affiliate organization, Swing Left—whose new work reflects the kind of innovation we believe is essential across the voter-engagement ecosystem.
 
This week, Swing Left announced the nationwide expansion of their [Ground Truth]([link removed] forward_20251121&refcode2=voteforward) program, a bold new approach to canvassing that reimagines how volunteers connect with voters.
 
Too often, campaigns rely on outdated technology, incomplete voter data, and narrow targeting that overlooks potential supporters who could make the difference in tight races. And traditional outreach often starts too late (a point that Vote Forward is also considering in plans for 2026). 
 
Ground Truth aims to change that by starting earlier and training volunteers to listen deeply to all potential swing district voters—not just those typically reached by campaigns. This year, Swing Left piloted several Ground Truth canvasses in districts across the country, aiming to better understand voters’ concerns—their “ground truth.”
 
They found that not only are voters eager to engage, but there’s untapped potential for persuading voters who typical voter contact efforts would have ignored. 
 
The insights from these conversations are compiled using new technology and shared with campaigns so they can effectively strengthen their messaging, targeting, and outreach strategies in ways that haven’t been possible before. As an organization committed to testing and innovating new ways to engage with voters, we’re excited to see Swing Left taking bold steps.
