Dear neighbor,
Some good news: Congress passed legislation forcing the Trump Administration to finally release the Epstein files.
The Justice Department now has 30 days to release all the files. This is a step in the right direction for the survivors who still live with the trauma from Epstein’s horrific pedophilia and human trafficking ring. I will continue to fight against any efforts to cover up or protect sexual abusers.
President Trump and Republican leadership only reversed their position because of the public outcry calling out the insanity of the coverup. It speaks to the power that public sentiment has and how speaking up still matters.
Their reversal is a broader admission that Republican policies and positions are out of step with the overwhelming majority of Americans. Right now, Trump is focused on getting away with as much corruption as he can, including recently receiving a personal gold bar from the Swiss, a used jumbo jet from Qatar, and massive amounts of money from crypto to his family. Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress have made deep cuts to healthcare, attacking Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act. Costs are rising, and Republicans are only working for themselves and billionaires, not for you.
I find this unacceptable, which is why I continue to focus on the needs of our district and supporting those hurt most by these reckless Republican policies. This week, I introduced the Fairness and Access for Immigrant Rights (FAIR) Act to protect detainees’ rights and establish a clear, enforceable way for detainees to access the services of their congressional office. Additionally, I secured federal funding to help Rolling Hills Estates repair storm drains and install a dry-well system to divert stormwater from entering the Los Angeles Harbor. I also led bipartisan demands to the Office of Management and Budget Director, Russell Vought, to enact full funding for the Office of Space Commerce.
I will continue to fight for my constituents and demand better from this Administration.
Check out this week's press conference to hear more of my thoughts:
