While the rest of the world met in Brazil to fight climate change, Trump stayed home and announced plans to auction off 1.3 billion acres of America’s coastal waters to Big Oil.

This reckless plan would open up polar bear habitat in the Arctic, tourism-dependent beaches in Florida, and even protected waters off California to drilling rigs, pipelines, and oil spills.

It’s the biggest fossil fuel giveaway in U.S. history. And it’s being cheered on by rich guys like Ryan Zinke and the oil lobbyists running Trump’s Interior Department.

This has been the case since Trump was inaugurated. Still, it’s worth remembering that our government is engaged in an all-out assault on the oceans, wildlife, coastal communities, and the climate future our kids will inherit.

We can’t let this happen quietly. We need to raise awareness, we need to fight back, and we need to defeat people like Zinke who spearhead this attack on public lands. Can I count on you to support our work by chipping in a few dollars today?

We can’t sit this one out. The Forest Service is being gutted. Nine regional offices—including Montana’s—are on the chopping block. Thousands of career experts are about to be purged.

This isn’t about some distant shoreline or abstract climate theory. It’s about bowhead whales in Alaska, military testing grounds in the Gulf, and future generations forced to breathe the smoke from today’s choices.

This drilling plan is not finalized yet. There’s still time to stop it — if enough of us speak up and fight back.
