Dear Green American,

A new scorecard reveals where major children’s clothing companies rank on toxic chemicals and plastic fibers in their clothing and packaging. And it’s not good.

Our friends at Defend Our Health have released the 2025 Defend Our Kids Fashion Scorecard ([link removed]), the first annual ranking of how ten leading kids’ apparel brands are addressing toxic chemicals and plastics of concern. Their findings show just how urgently companies must act to protect children, families, and the frontline communities living near production sites.

Take Action ([link removed])

Please join us in calling for action from The Children’s Place, Carter’s, and H&M to commit to reducing the use of polyester plastic apparel ([link removed]). All three brands have taken steps to become more sustainable and reduce the chemicals of concern in their products, yet they have not committed to reducing their use of polyester.

Pressure from Green Americans like you got Carter’s to take important steps forward on toxic chemicals. Now, we need your voice to get Carter’s and other major children’s clothing companies to take action on plastics.

Children and infants can be more vulnerable to these chemicals than adults because their brains and organs are still developing. The Children’s Place, Carter’s, and H&M have all demonstrated a commitment to transparency with their customers. Yet, none of these major clothing makers has committed to using fewer plastic fabrics.

We believe they can do better ([link removed]).

Thank you for standing with us,
