The Department of Homeland Security claimed in court that the video footage was "irretrievably destroyed" in a system crash. Other excuses were offered up, such as "we don't have the resources" to preserve surveillance footage, which is a curious thing for an agency that was just gifted $200 BILLION by Trump's Big Bill of Bullshit to say. DHS lawyers did have one cute idea, however: If detainees’ lawyers could provide "endless hard drives where we could save the information, that might be one solution." Cool! On top of being cruel and abusive, they're condescending pricks, too!

Wouldn't you know it, a certain somebody doesn't want to talk about egg prices so much and instead is striking a more conciliatory tone, pleading with voters for a little "patience" while he and his MAGA bossman figure out how to square their promise to restore affordability while imposing policies that just make the problem worse. If we can just give them a little more time — perhaps through next year's midterms — an "economic boom" awaits! Oh, you don't have any money left to buy that bullshit? Samesies.

"Divisive or hate symbols and flags are prohibited," the latest policy, released late Thursday, declared before adding that this category included "a noose, a swastika, and any symbols or flags co-opted or adopted by hate-based groups." Folks, we cannot let Trump and his MAGA goons normalize hate in our public institutions, even if they've quite clearly already done so in their hearts.

The trouble arose before they even arrived in Afghanistan, when the group was stopped in Tbilisi, Georgia, before continuing on the next phase of their travels. One evening, Mills "was caught with sex workers" in the hallway of their accommodations, a discovery that infuriated other group members because "[t]heir mission was already sensitive, given the state of the country they were trying to enter." Sources told NOTUS that this incident led the group to decide to "part ways" with Mills, and he traveled to Afghanistan separately.
