1995 - Cecile Richards founds TFN.
1996 - TFN launches the Texas Faith Network to elevate the voices of progressive faith leaders to counter the religious right’s hateful and divisive agenda.
2003 - TFN successfully defends teaching about evolution in a major battle with the religious right at the State Board of Education.
2005 - TFN and a broad coalition of public education advocates help defeat a massive private school voucher bill in a dramatic showdown in the Texas House of Representatives. The same year, TFN expands its work in support of equality for LGBTQIA+ Texans.
2006 - TFN Education Fund (TFNEF) releases a major report detailing how classes about the Bible in Texas public schools are riddled with factual errors and constitutional problems that undermine the religious freedom of students and their families.
2007 - TFN establishes its first student chapter, the beginning of the organization’s Texas Rising program for Texans ages 18-29.
2009 - TFNEF releases a first-of-its-kind report on how Texas is failing students and their families in sex education classes in public schools.
