Oldham secures £31.5m for Prince’s Gate through GM Good Growth Fund

We have secured £31.5 million from the Greater Manchester Good Growth Fund to kickstart our flagship Prince’s Gate development.

This funding will deliver 331 new homes next to Oldham Mumps station, including 75 social housing units, and forms part of our plan to create 2,000 new homes in Oldham town centre over the next decade.

This marks the beginning of a new era for our town centre. Prince’s Gate will create an entirely new neighbourhood, placing high-quality homes right on the doorstep of everything Oldham has to offer – shops, entertainment, hospitality and brilliant public transport links.

This investment is part of the first wave of the £1bn GM Good Growth Fund, which is regenerating Greater Manchester on a scale not seen in decades. The initial £400m allocation across the city region is set to unlock nearly 3,000 homes, 22,000 jobs and 2 million square feet of employment space.

Prince’s Gate is a core part of our wider regeneration pipeline, alongside plans for Sports Town and Northern Roots, the UK’s largest urban farm and eco park.

The Prince’s Gate car park has now closed to allow enabling works to begin ahead of construction starting later this year.

Keeping Oldham clean: Together we can make a real difference

Following the recent refresh of Don’t Trash Oldham by Deputy Leader Cllr Elaine Taylor, our teams are back out making improvements across the borough, starting in Alexandra ward.

Bulk waste and fly-tipped material have been removed, and the bottom end of the alley behind Tate and Mansfield Street is looking much better.

There’s still more to do, but we’re making a difference. Please do your bit too by keeping your streets tidy and disposing of waste responsibly.

You can report fly-tipping on our website by clicking [here.]([link removed])
