FACT: Illinois’ 6th District has the kindest people, the best variety of food, and the friendliest small businesses. We’re one of the most diverse districts in America, with people of at least 27 different ethnicities and nationalities calling IL-06 home (that’s why our holiday parades are so legendary).
Also a fact: We’re not really a "safe" Democratic seat. In fact, we’re near the center politically.
- IL-06 was a Republican stronghold for half a century until 2018, when yours truly flipped it blue.
- This was at one point the most competitive battleground in America in 2022, according to FiveThirtyEight.
- The Cook Political Report pegs us at D+3, 3 points more Democratic than the nation overall.
- Of 435 House districts, ours is the 178th-most Democratic, solidly in the middle of the pack.
IL-06 is far from deep blue. So you might call it…periwinkle? Lilac? You get the point.
The fact is, I’ve been a thorn in MAGA’s side since my first day in office, and they’d love nothing more than to kick me out of Congress and tack on an extra seat to their thin majority.
This year, we got a taste of the cruelty MAGA wants to inflict on Chicago and diverse cities across America. We have to do whatever it takes to protect our community, and that starts with defeating my hardline MAGA opponent in 2026.
