I am going to speak truth right here:

I have been in elected office long enough to know that leaders in Washington look to two groups for feedback: who is writing the checks and who is going to vote.

So let’s make sure they understand that we donate and we vote — so they need to listen to us.

Right now, there are some powerful forces that are trying to suggest that folks are alone and without power. Powerful forces are trying to divide us and to tell us that we and our needs do not matter.

We need to let them hear our voice and demand they be responsive to the people. This is a moment where we reclaim: This is our country.
