John, this is a longer message about how the promises of this country changed my life. I hope you’ll take the time to read it the whole way through, but if you’re short on time, please consider chipping in $3 to keep me in Congress fighting for working families.

For my parents, the American Dream was everything -- fleeing war-torn Vietnam to give me and my siblings a better shot, they arrived in this country with nothing but hope.

They worked tirelessly and opened a corner store where I grew up stocking the shelves and behind the cash register learning the value of hard work. Through their sacrifice, my parents built a life for me and my siblings.

Today, that dream is out of reach for so many working families across Southern California -- despite people working hard, saving money, and having multiple jobs to make ends meet.

This reality is unacceptable to me. Without the American Dream, my parents couldn’t have opened their small business and have a son serving in Congress. That’s why I’ve always been a fighter for working families.

We’re losing the very fabric of what made our country great -- our welcoming spirit, commitment to hope, and the belief that if you work hard, you can achieve your goals.

It’s made worse by the chaos of the government shutdown and the broken promises from this administration and House Republicans on tackling the cost of living and healthcare crises.

I’m working hard in Congress to make the American Dream a reality, but in all honesty, change will only come with a Democratic majority to hold the GOP accountable. Will you stand with me by donating $3 today?
