[<[link removed] Policy Alliance Foundation>] A big win for families in Texas, and why it matters for all of us [Craig DeRoche and Jonathan Covey <[link removed]>] A major legal victory has been announced in Texas that impacts every family in America, and we’re excited to share the news! In this episode, I sit down with Jonathan Covey, Director of Policy at Texas Values. Jonathan and his team played a central role in securing a significant legal win when the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals removed a federal injunction that was blocking Senate Bill 12 from being enforced. SB 12 is the Texas law designed to protect children from exposure to drag shows and “hyper sexualized performances.” This ruling allows SB 12 to move forward and marks a meaningful step toward protecting children from performances that are clearly inappropriate for them. Jonathan has a unique perspective on why this issue matters so much and what comes next in the broader fight to defend families. In the episode, we walk through how the case unfolded, why the appeals court sided with Texas, and how this ruling tackles the First Amendment claims critics often raise. We also discuss how this victory could serve as a model for other states and the additional battles Texas Values is facing right now.
