Recent research from Abortion America makes one thing clear: Gen Z men care deeply about abortion rights, and their engagement is only growing. According to Abortion in America, 41% of men ages 18–29 say abortion rights directly shape their vote—far higher than men 55 and older. And when young men learn about the real consequences of abortion bans, their engagement grows even stronger. After hearing personal testimony from those impacted by bans, the number of young men who say abortion will influence their vote increases by 12%.

This momentum is incredibly promising for the reproductive justice movement—and it mirrors exactly what we witnessed at Women Winning’s 2025 Allies in Action. We are proud to have so many strong male allies standing with Women Winning, speaking out, showing up, and making it clear that this fight belongs to all of us. Seeing more and more Gen Z men step up, use their voices, and commit to protecting reproductive freedom gives us tremendous hope for the future.

As Abortion in America CEO Lauren Collins Peterson emphasized in this report, we need to keep talking about abortion in ways that resonate with young men—because when they understand the stakes, they are powerful advocates for change. Allies in Action showed just how strong and growing that allyship is, and we are energized to continue building this coalition together.

Katie Sullivan felt hopeless after the 2024 election, believing that “hate had won.”

But this year, the 48-year-old Minneapolitan is still fighting back, joining more than 100 Minnesotans on Saturday gathered for the Handmaids’ National Day of Action.

Dozens of protesters assembled for the rally, wearing red cloaks and white cowls while speaking from the Capitol steps in St. Paul.

A wintry breeze carried the handmaidens’ voices as they chanted “shame” in response to federal policies affecting immigration and disability rights. Protesters from Farmington and elsewhere cheered in support, waving signs that read “#Resist,” “Detox from Fox” and “Fight like a mother.”

The gathering comes as a growing number of people have mobilized to protest President Donald Trump’s administrative policies, including tens of thousands who packed Minneapolis for this October’s international “No Kings” rally.

Minnesota Republican Party Chairman Alex Plechash said his party supports residents’ right to peaceful protest, but claimed that Saturday’s rally was for show.

“The so-called ‘Handmaids’ movement is built on fear and political theater, not facts,” Plechash said, adding that the GOP is focused on affordability, improving schools, and helping law enforcement. “While Democrats and their allies stage costume protests, Minnesotans are struggling with higher taxes, a growing deficit and a government plagued by waste, fraud, and mismanagement. We’ll stay focused on solutions — not stunts — to get our state back on track.”

Kristy Rhoades, 44, of Farmington, was one of the protesters at Saturday’s event.

“We love our country and that’s why we’re here. Even if you don’t agree with us, we still love you,” Rhoades said. “It’s not left or right, it’s right or wrong.”

Along with several speeches, Rep. Kristin Bahner and protesters gathered for a song, chanting, “you make me do too much labor” together.

Speakers like Samantha Phillis said they were fighting for disability rights affecting families like hers, pausing for applause as Phillis’ children screamed “Mommy, I love you!”

The availability of medication abortion through telemedicine has been a lifeline for abortion access following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned longstanding constitutional protections for abortion. As of 2023, medication abortion made up more than 60 percent of abortions in the country and the majority of abortions in states with bans.  

Anti-abortion extremists now have a new target in their quest to ban abortion nationwide.  

Under the Trump administration, these extremists have influence at the highest levels of the government. That influence could impact access to medication abortion across the country—especially if they try to weaponize a set of little-known anti-vice laws from 1873. 

Those laws, known collectively as the Comstock Act, prohibit the transport of “obscene” materials and anything used to provide unlawful abortion care through the mail. Decades of court opinions beginning as far back as the early 1900s, as well as later administrative and congressional action, establish that Comstock does not prohibit the mailing of medication and supplies used for lawful health care. This was reaffirmed in a 2022 legal opinion from the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office of Legal Counsel (OLC).    

But extremists want to misuse this law to ban the mailing of all abortion pills, even where abortion is legal. So in order to apply Comstock’s restrictions nationwide, they have also called for rescinding the 2022 opinion.
