The UK government is currently considering demands from Donald Trump and big pharma to hike the amount the NHS pays for medicines – and it could be by billions.
This would represent a big win for Trump’s bully tactics and big pharma shareholders, but pile the pressure on our NHS and put the lives of patients at risk.
New research has estimated that inflating drug prices by £1bn a year will cost the lives of 4,500 NHS patients if it diverts funding from other health services.(1)
The UK government and big pharma are in negotiations right now, so we need to show them where the British public stands on this issue.

Big pharma companies already charge the NHS huge mark-ups on medicines, helping fill the bank accounts of their rich shareholders.(2) It is a scandal that our government is considering offering these giant corporations even more money.
But big pharma is armed with a huge lobbying budget and supported by Trump – so we need to mobilise MPs to apply some pressure in the opposite direction. We must tell them to defend our NHS.
