Nov 12 message - A few years ago, we told you about climate hypocrites at Starbucks coffee. The global coffee giant promised to cut global warming pollution in half in 2019. Instead, their pollution and emissions increased, and in 2024 they threw in their lot with the billionaires and fossil fueled fascists. And as we've been telling you at least since May Day this year, there’s no stopping the climate crisis without ending billionaires.
While union baristas continue to struggle for a fair contract and real action on climate goals, Starbucks has doubled down on a new billionaire CEO, Brian Niccol, and cozied up to the fossil fueled fascist Trump regime. That's why – starting November 13 – union Starbucks workers are going on strike. And we're rising up with them in solidarity to create a meaningful action to take make billionaires pay for fossil fueled fascism.

This isn't just a worker solidarity petition – Starbucks' CEO Brian Niccol is a perfect example of how corporations and the ultra rich are driving the collapse of our climate and democracy.
- In 2024, Niccol was paid $96 million for just 120 days of work. That’s a shocking 6,666 times what the median Starbucks barista makes.
- Niccol commutes from southern California to Seattle in a private jet to commute to commute to work, emitting more than 1,000 tons of global warming pollution annually – 1,800 times as much as the average American airplane passenger.
- Since December 2021, more than 12,000 Starbucks workers nationwide have joined the union. But instead of sitting down and negotiating a fair contract with the union, Starbucks just decided to shutter 400 stores — including 59 union locations. It would cost 1 day of sales to settle the contract, but Niccol has chosen union busting and AI enshitification instead.
- And since January of this year, Starbucks has been cozying up to the Trump Administration, trying to trade menu choices that meet RFK Jr's MAHA standards, for legal and financial protection from striking workers and cratering public opinion.
Hope can be hard to find these days. But we find it in Starbucks Workers United: They're the fastest-growing union movement this century with more than 12,000 unionized baristas inspiring workers all over the world. And for years we've worked in solidarity with the union to get the company to honor its promises to workers and consumers alike around fair labor, climate, and environmental goals.
These young union workers are up against a giant corporation and a billionaire CEO fighting them at every turn. But we're fighting back – because when workers take action together with the support and solidarity of their community, we can take back power from the billionaires and CEOs. As we've been telling you all year, we, the people, are the ones who make this country run. And it's our labor and community that will stop the climate crisis, make billionaires pay, and rebuild from the devastation of Trump and his fossil fueled fascist regime.
Starbucks workers broke down for More Perfect Union why Starbucks sucks now, and how worker organizing can help. Watch that report at the action page, and sign on to stand with striking workers and make billionaires pay!
