John, my name is Donavan McKinney. I'm a state representative in Michigan, and I'm running for Congress in Michigan's 13th District.

I'm running against a multi-millionaire incumbent Congressman who is running ads promoting himself with funds appropriated by the House, even as his campaign is already flush with cash from his self-funding.
It's not the first time he's run campaign ads on the taxpayer dime, and it surely won't be the last.
John, when we have a Congressman this corrupt, we need all the help we can get to fight back. As I write this, I know families across our community are struggling — trying to decide between making their car insurance payments or paying for their water bills, and saying prayers that their card won’t decline in the supermarket checkout line. We work hard, and we pay taxes and elect Representatives because we trust they’ll work hard, too, and do right by us. But time and time again, Shri has abused that trust. He’s shown he’s not accountable to us — he won’t even pick up the phone when his constituents call, and spends our taxpayer dollars on his own self-promoting ads.
I'm running because I'm sick of seeing all this greed and hoarding of wealth while communities like mine haven't seen investments in decades. But putting a stop to this means electing ethical leaders who are committed to ending the corruption and getting our government back to working for us.
John, I'll probably never be the richest guy on the House floor. But I will always be the one working hard, and fighting tooth and nail, to make sure Detroiters have the opportunities to create wealth in their own communities, unlike my opponent.
