Over the summer, the One Big BAD Bill was passed, and it came with devastating cuts to essential programs. On top of that, it introduced the FIRST federally funded nationwide private school choice program, which the Trump administration calls “educational freedom.”

But here’s the reality: this move is really just draining resources from our public schools, especially those that serve rural and low-income communities.

The push is on for all states to jump on board with a system that diverts public money to private schools. If that happens, we can expect even more underfunded classrooms, larger class sizes, and fewer teachers able to give our students the support they really need to succeed.
