John, when given the right tools, children have the power to change the world. They can inspire those around them with new ideas, influence their friends and leaders with their energy and create lasting change in their communities with their actions.
But to unlock that power, we must put children first — ensuring they have nutritious food, quality education and a safe space to reach their full potential.
Today, we share the story of two remarkable children from opposite ends of the world who are making a real impact in their communities.

13-year-old Adel lives in Kasai, DRC, where she was forced to drop out of school after her father could no longer afford to pay school fees. Save the Children started a program in her community, allowing her to return to school free of charge. Today, she receives the education she deserves and encourages all her friends to study with her. “My wish for all girls of Congo is to study,” she says.

11-year-old Wilberth lives in Yucatan, Mexico, where he participates in a Save the Children community health club to learn about healthy living and hygiene habits. Wilberth and his peers created a “health bracelet” made of beads in different colors. Each color represents an element of the food pyramid and the number of beads shows the recommended daily portion to consume. This health bracelet helps Wilberth, his family and his community measure portions and ensure they’re eating a balanced diet every day.
The stories of Wilberth and Adel are just two of millions where Save the Children is making a difference.
