** Hi, John
------------------------------------------------------------

Warwick Olsen was both significant in the life of African Enterprise Australia and in the International Partnership.

Warwick was at the first International Congress on World Evangelisation held in Lausanne in 1974 which thereafter became known as the Lausanne Movement. It was at that congress that the Lausanne Covenant was developed becoming one of the most significant documents in modern church history and then adopted by AE as its statement of faith.

It was at this congress that Warwick met Michael Cassidy, the founder of AE in Africa, and Bishop Festo Kivengere who founded AE in East Africa. The resulting visits to Australia sparked the creation of AE Australia in 1978 with Warwick on the board and Dr Paul White as its first Chairman followed by Rev David Hewetson as its second Chairman.

Warwick acted as the part time Executive Director for AE with board members and staff of Pilgrim the Christian making significant contributions to the early development. Mike Woodall was then appointed by the AE board as the first full time Executive Director in 1989 with Warwick on the board throughout that period and also had a number of years as the International Chairman of the partnership between Australia and the ministries in Africa. He was instrumental in ensuring the partnership held together at a difficult time in its history when East Africa contemplated separating from the South during the difficult years of apartheid in South Africa when travel there was nearly impossible for the East Africans.

Warwick had a great knowledge of fundraising and business management and a wide range of significant church contacts; he was never slow in venturing his opinion and had the ability to cut across volumes of information to get to what was important. He was a loyal friend, colleague and a good companion to travel with in Africa.

AE Australia and the International Partnership owe him a great debt of gratitude. He will be sorely missed.

Sincerest condolences, from all of us at African Enterprise, go to Maureen and the family at this difficult time.

Yours in Christ,

Rev Simba Musvamhiri

Chief Executive Officer

Together with:

Michael Cassidy, Founder

Jeff Collett, Board Chairman

Mike Wooddall, Ex Director (Author of tribute)

Stephen Mbogo, International Team Leader
