I am back in Washington, D.C. for a week of legislative activity, committee hearings, and meetings. If you would like more information on what I am working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead This week, the House will consider several bills that strengthen national security, roll back burdensome energy regulations, and increase America’s preparedness for threats from terrorism and cyberattacks. We will also vote on the Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act, which guarantees our veterans receive the benefits they’ve earned and helps their payments keep pace with inflation. As Americans gear up to travel around the country to visit with family and friends for Thanksgiving, Congressional Republicans are working hard to keep energy prices low and invest in the future of American energy. House Republicans have rolled back several Green New Deal-era regulations this Congress, but we still have plenty of work to do to repair the damage the previous administration brought to our energy infrastructure. Throughout this week, we are voting on a slate of bills that reverse burdensome Biden-era regulations and promote American energy dominance both onshore and offshore. By continuing to invest in domestic energy, we can ensure a future of American dynamism and continue to strengthen rural communities. Meetings in the Office Kansas Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) John Deere Kansas Hospitals Association Clean Fuels Alliance American Association of Crop Insurers NTCA - The Rural Broadband Association Kansas Sorghum Producers American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Re-opening the Federal Government For 43 days, Washington Democrats kept the federal government closed as they threw a temper tantrum and demanded that Congress adopt $1.5 trillion in radical policy proposals like taxpayer-funded health care for illegal immigrants. Everyday Americans paid the price for Democrats’ political theatre with delayed government benefits, missed paychecks, and chaos across our nation’s airports. Last week, I proudly voted to bring this shutdown to an end once and for all. The hardworking men and women who are the backbone of our country should not have their lives upended in exchange for Democrats’ pandering to their leftist base. This shutdown was completely preventable if Washington Democrats chose people over politics. I’m hopeful Congress can put Americans first and get back to passing the agenda that House Republicans were elected to deliver on.
