John,
Throughout the 43 days of the shutdown, one issue remained at the center of the fight: healthcare. The entire standoff stemmed from Republicans' refusal to change course as healthcare costs rise for Americans across the country.
I don't speak lightly when I say that Republicans could have averted the longest shutdown in our nation's history simply by coming to the table, working with Democrats, and finding a path forward that prevented families' healthcare costs from spiking.
Instead, they chose to ignore the needs of their constituents and go on a paid vacation at the direction of Donald Trump. That is unacceptable.
Healthcare is something every one of us must navigate. As elected officials, it’s our responsibility to ensure that families have options that don't force them into debt or place their well-being out of reach.
Now, because of the GOP's decisions, too many American families are facing painful choices as their health insurance costs continue to rise. It is hard to imagine clearer evidence that today's Republican leadership is not working for the American people.
I will continue doing everything I can to reverse this administration's damage and protect Americans' healthcare. One of the best ways we can do that is by flipping the Senate blue in 2026. Add your name if I can count on you to vote for Democrats in the next election >> [link removed]
