I joined SEIU / SEIU Wisconsin protesting the cuts to healthcare in the "Big Beautiful Bill" that Rep. Van Orden voted for AND the increase to health insurance rates because Republicans in Congress refuse to address the end of year expiration of ACA tax credits. |
|
|
|
The next morning, I joined the "Warriors for Democracy" in Menomonie! (And my family joined me ❤️) I was able to talk with every person there and listen to why they show up and what changes they want to see — shifting the tax burden off of working people and onto millionaires & structural change to our healthcare system. People want solutions and decency. Not destruction and cruelty. |

We headed to Stevens Point for their "You honk, we donate" event. All the donations went to One Big Tent, an organization that helps local folks in Portage County navigate and access resources. I am proud to say the group got 265 honks which smashed their previous record! AND earned $855 for One Big Tent. |

On Halloween we had about 400 kids come through the neighborhood. It's always fun to see the costumes. And the kids were so polite! 🎃 |

I also attended Citizen Action's Healthcare TownHall. Speakers were invited to talk about the personal impacts of the "The big beautiful bill" (which is not beautiful) which cut healthcare to give tax breaks to billionaires. People also shared how their monthly healthcare care costs are going up 2x - 3x. All because the ACA tax credits are set to expire at the end of the year. |

Last weekend, I visited friendly Viroqua! Thank you to Kris for hosting...I met so many new people and everyone was so nice! Also everyone was fired up about Mamdani's win on election night and how he stood up to big money and the establishment AND WON! It's about the people. It's always about the people. |

I met Tom at the No Kings Rally in Sparta and he invited me to check out his farm sometime. So this past weekend, the BFC crew headed to Richland Center for a farm tour. Tom and Cindy's farm is based in sustainable practices with care for both the land and the animals. We had great conversations about healthcare, sustainable farming practices, the tremendous loss of small family farms in the area, especially dairy and how the Federal Government could help small and medium sized farms. |

I attended "Encounters" a local art show organized by JONAH and hosted at Eau Claire Area Hmong Mutual Assistance Association. It was a powerful display of different cultures, how folks experience being "unseen" and the paradox of how now different groups of people are trying to deliberately be unseen so they aren't taken or to avoid putting their families in danger. |

We had a wonderful event in Stevens Point! We not only had a fired up host group who organized it all, we had volunteers all over the district join us!
I am working hard to meet people where they are at and to build a people powered campaign. This is how we will win in August and then we will carry the momentum to November to flip this seat. And I promise it will not stop there. I will always center the people of this district. |

I took a day off the campaign trail (except for a quick stop to visit with College Dems at UWEC) and joined in our family's annual tradition of making lefse. My lefse making video attracted a lot of attention on social media and many asked how I liked my lefse...I am a plain lefse kinda girl...just butter! |
